Boy it was hot

It is hard to believe it is February seeing how it was 85 outside and very windy on top of it. Did a little work outside but did spend some time sewing too. That was before going out for an early Valentine dinner. Since it's on Tuesday we would not be able to go out that night. Excellent steak. I was going to start on this month's RSC but realize I had already started one last year and decided I would finish it off this month. I'll make backs for these and quilt them. So then I decided I would work on something for my youngest daughter. Had plans of making this for Christmas. Had bought this kits... gosh.. some years ago. Not a difficult project. Cut up the panel and add in some color fabric filler with a few flying geese and square in a square. In six hours I was able to get main section pieced and now the border is ready to attach. My daughter loves cats and bright colors so this will be perfect for her. It

My Simple Woman Daybook For February

The past two days I have been so busy the past couple of days that I didn't have a chance to write this before now.  So here goes. For Today the simple woman Looking out my window and seeing the parking lot of the hair salon I'm at. You see it's time to get my hair done. I have to say I like the view out my home so much better I am thinking about doing a 5k, walking not running. I was never a runner. Cycling was my thing when younger.  I am thankful for a strong heart yesterday I had a treadmill stress test and all is good. And I have no reason to get out and exercise like I had in the past. The pain in my chest is from another reason. Looking at some sort of indigestion problem. One of my favorite things is my morning cup of coffee.  I am sewing on Words to Live By quilt. I'm in the home stretch. I will be so pleased when I'm done, it has taken me awhile to get this far.    I am wearing ..  Black yoga pants with a black

What's Up 2.6.17

Up on the wall today was Words To Live By. When I put it away before Christmas had 2 side of the outer broader and part of the third completed.  Once I get all these HST sewn together that's pretty much it. As I was putting the HST up on the wall I realize that there wouldn't be enough. I was 32 short. Not sure how that happen but seeing how there was over 300, I must've missed counted. I do also need to write my name and date on one of the corner blocks.    This morning is what I woke up to... Bob found a roll of toilet paper and enjoy tearing it up. What a mess but he is so cute. posted this sunday Now while looking I came across a BOM I had purchased 17 years ago. Never did start it. At the time I thought it was cute but now I just do not want to make anymore.  So I want to sell it. At the time it was $10.00 a month. But know I can not get what I payed for it and that's OK

Slow Sunday

Today started out dreary but ended up being really nice outside. I too started out on the yucky side but ended up feeling good, So did a little reading and finished the book I was reading  10% Happier by Dan Harris and I enjoyed it very much. It wasn't what I thought it would be but good all the same. It was his personal journey to learning and using meditation. Not at all boring even though it was more of his life and not on how. Did do a little machine sewing on the last month of the 1930's Farmers Wife. And handwork on a  Warm Hearts block. So far my hand has not been bothering me much. Been able to get up to a couple hours in at times.  Happy camper here...   I was looking for an extra piece of fabric I know I had just recently and you would think that I could find it with no problem, seeing how my room on so clean.  But no, apparently I must of put it in a good spot. I need just 2 - 2" squares of the

Native Plants

I spent the day in Tulsa at the Oklahoma Native Plant Society 2017 Indoor Outing. The theme for all speakers was  landscaping with native plants. They spoke on plants that attract wildlife and pollinators. Oklahoma has a large variety of plant families, 172. And over 2600 plant species.   So today we were shown only a small portion of native plants here but a good idea of what I can plant in my yard. Now my challenge is to find natives that the deer will not eat. They seem to like most stuff.  While there I picked up a couple new books   A Guide To Oklahoma Wildflowers  and Landscaping for Wildlife. I had a few of the other books they had.  There was some nurseries with plants for sale and exhibitors from Audubon Society, Monarch Watch, Oklahoma Wildlife Dept., Kerr Center and local Master Gardeners. I was so happy that I was able to go because if I have had the surgery, there would of been no way I could of gone. And another big surprise was that
