Scrappy Saturday

I had been sewing off and on all week and trying to finish the small list I had made Monday. I had these leftover from the month of bright green that needed to be completed. Done now Plus I have another block completed for this months RSC. You don't see many brown reproduction 30's fabrics but since I have been collecting 30's fabric for many years there was a couple of prints I could choose. I really liked this one. Still working on the other blocks for brown. Linking up to so scrappy

Making the Deadline

I have been wanting to get  Q4 of 2015 Finish-Along at  on the windy side posted and I'm down to the final hour. Well out of the ones I had listed on the last quarter, most of what was listed didn't get finish and maybe I can get them done before the end of the year. Have this one sewn together, now needs to be quilted This will be Q4 Checkerboard shuffle made from 2 1/2 inch strips This will be Q4 The twisted blossom that I just started This too will be Q4 These 2 are done Off the list now and the Thangles lap quilt I just finished Needs quilting on for Q4 The nested churn dash quilt also quilted and bound.  This one too This one is more wishful thinking but I still would like to give this as a gift so on the list  Q4 Well reprinting what was listed 3 months ago, it looks like chances of these getting done is not good. But most of what is listed needs quilting and just a matter of funds and getting

What's Up Oct 12

Here it is Monday already and "The Man of The Place" had to go back to work and life for me is back to the usual. After a morning of taking care of the plants and animals. Then a few phone calls to take care getting the propane tank filled and towing a truck to the shop, I can now write about what is up on the design wall.   Seeing how "The Man of The Place" was home all week, I have up the same thing I did the week before.  Two baby quilts started. Both are patterns by Sew Kind of Wonderful using the Quick Curve Ruler. Did locate some brown fabric for this months color for RSC15 Started cutting today and the intentions are to get whats up on the wall and the blocks for this months color finished by then of the week. I think that's doable. Linking up with .patchwork times love laugh quilt what a hoot quilts http://bambisyr-evaj.blogspot.com/ cooking up quilts

Peaceful Sunday

Yesterday was our anniversary and "The Man of The Place" had taken last week off so he could do a few things around here and spend time celebrating. We had taken a couple days to get away and relax. We went to Mount Magazine State Park and spent the night in the lodge and the 2 days of hiking some of the trails there. It is a beautiful spot and the lodge was too. Being the highest spot in Arkansas, the views were spectacular.  This is me sitting on one of the many bluffs, enjoying the view.  One can see at least 50 miles away and on a clearer day I wouldn't doubt a 100 miles or more. We went out to dinner Friday evening at the same place we had our first date, that was pretty cool. So needless to say I haven't done much sewing or gardening this past week. Today was a nice peaceful day spent with a close friend and stitching. I have been preoccupied with stuff on the farm and going to and fro to California that our visits have been far and few

Part 2

After a good night sleep and a little coffee and eats we were ready for the last 2 shops, then home. We drove from Overland Park KS. to Lamar MO.  There is The Blue Top Quilt Shop .  Big place with loads of fabric and nice people.  I found some great deals After they served us a yummy lunch we were off to our last stop. The Rabbit's Lair in Rogers, Arkansas. Located in the historic part of Rogers in what was originally a drug store. I have been to this shop many times over the years and Mary, the owner is a friend of mine.  You never know what you will find in her shop, it's a wonderful surprise and I never fail to come home with a bag of goodies.  Like this time I found this beautiful line of blue and grey fabric. Plan on making it up in a orange peel pattern. After that it was head home. Just a wonderful 3 days and can't wait till the next time.

All Great things Come to an End

Part 1 Friday I was unable to get on to the internet at the hotel and then last night I was just too worn out to write this. Friday was a great day in so many ways.... the weather, being in the company of so many great quilters and the wonderful shops we got to visit today.  The first shop we went to was Sew Simple Quilt Shoppe in  Ozark, MO..  The owner Amber has been in business for 13 years and 8 of them in her current location. Here at this shop I purchase the fabric to make this quilt which I fell in love with.                       Fabric collection of Jen Kingswell and the pattern by Moda.          2nd Shop Then we were off to Meadows Quilting and Sewing in Leavenworth KS.  Very cool shop full of wonderful modern fabric.    And racks of Aurifil and Presencia thread. It's like looking at a rainbow. The owners  Rocky and Christian are a sweet couple and were very gracious. Th

Wheels On The Bus Go Round And Round

We're off and ready What a great group of ladies   There is 25 of us and we are ready for 3 days of travel and shopping Our first stop is Mama's Log House in Huntington Ar.  It is an amazing place in the middle of nowhere. Miles off the main highway among rural country homes and livestock. A treasure.  Kay has been here for 33 years.  Next stop was Quilting Corner in Harrison Ar. And I totally forgot to take pictures. Very nice shop with tons of fabric.  Then the last stop was the Quilted Cow in West Branson Mo.    This is the first time to this shop and love the decor inside. This is the sitting area to enjoy a refreshment.  By the time we were done here it was a little after 7 pm and boy am tired.  The WiFi sucks here so I need to make this short but hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to show more, including what I purchased. Till tomorrow.
