What's Up or in my lap

This month on my Get-R-Done list was to get the binding on at least one of my Christmas quilts so that is my plan for today. I decided to do the plaid scrappy one because I just love this one and looking forward to seeing it out for the holidays this year. Especially since I started this quilt almost 2 years ago. I was looking back to see where I had pictures and that's when I realize how long. It seemed like just last year that I did this quilt and posted how I went about making it here I'm a hand quilter but I now know that I'll make far more quilts than I can quilt. So when I need to have one of my favorites machine quilted, I like it to look similar to one that was hand done. I know it won't look exactly like it's hand quilted but close is good. Decided to have this one done in a pattern called a Baptist or Methodist Fan. I've quilted this pattern myself and it's one of my favorites plus I like how it looks on this quilt. Doesn&

Finally a Slow Sunday

It has been a few weeks since I can say that I am able to enjoy a little sewing. So I think I'll finish the Crazy Cat  I have all the crazy stitching done, now all needed is to sew it together. Besides a little sewing, I think I'll enjoy a little reading on the back porch and take in the beauty of fall.

This Week in Pictures (but not of the farm)

Our anniversary was this week and for this years trip we went out to the pan handle or "no man's land" here in Oklahoma. I have never been out there. So we decided we were going to visit some of the State Parks, seeing how the government shutdown closed the National Parks and wildlife refuges. I found it amazing the diversity of ecoregions that are here in this state. When I moved here from California my impression of Oklahoma was that of what I had learn from about the Dust Bowl. It nothing like that, especially where I live. It's called Green Country for a reason. But traveling around the Northwestern part of the state reminded me of other states, which are nearby like New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Utah, Wyoming and Nebraska.    So here are a pictures of Gloss Mountains, The Little Sahara, The Great Salt Plains, Dinosaur tracks out in Black Mesa, Boiling Springs and a couple historical site, 101 Ranch and the last sod house built by a homesteader in O

This Week in Pictures on the Farm

I have been so busy in the kitchen the past couple of weeks that when I have been out I was all business and would forget to my camera with me. This week though I try to make a point of capturing moments around the farm.

What I'm planning to knit

I have to start , a little late, working on Christmas sweaters for the boys. Now that they are in San Diego and near the ocean I thought a nice easy, blue like the sea sweater. So I'm going to do one that was published back in the 60's http://www.ravelry.com/projects/worldjulie/baby-surprise-jacket-2 This one I liked the colors so that is close to the ones I picked  For what I'm listening to is  Has quite a few twists to it but also more foul language then I care for. I have to know what happens so I'll finish it. I just wouldn't recommend this book to some because of the language. I'm also still reading the book I posted about last time here   Linking to http://www.gsheller.com/ http://tamisamis.blogspot.co.uk/

It's October, my Favorite Month

Yes it's true, October is my favorite month. And it is for many reasons. Here in the northern hemisphere it's when Autumn comes to show her beauty. The smells, the temperatures are cooler, the color of the light from the sun (just breathtaking), the change in color of the foliage, harvesting of gardens and orchards and the whole mindset of preparing the farm, the house, pantry and myself for winter. But best of all is "the Man of the Place" and I's anniversary.  Truly  October is my favorite month. Now that I have that said and out of my system it time to get back to business.  First of all I would like to present my  Get-R-Done list for October I had not had a list since July.  August and September whiz by with little or no sewing happening. And let me tell you I am sure missing it, but with all that still needs to be done around here before the cold sets in I am making my list of doable goals. So here goes; 1. Finish my daughter's quilt

What's Up

It is unbelievable to me that I have only written 3 times this month.  I have been wanting to sew but just haven't had the time because of working in the veggie garden maintaining, harvesting and planting the fall crops. It has been a very good year in the garden and I have been harvesting a tremendous amount produce.  This is from last Saturday's harvest and I have picking like this 3 or 4 times a week this past month. Except for the acorn squash it varies in what I pick. The green beans are done producing which was a good year, a little over a 100 lbs. That also means I have been very busy getting it put up.  The major part is over for now so I hope to get busy working on one of the many projects I have started. So today I went into my sewing room to see what I could work on.  I haven't been in that room for nearly a month now and this is what I walked into What a mess!!! At least the plants are still alive.  I have pretty much just been dum
