Whats Up 1-16-18

I meant to get this written last night but we were watching the last two episodes of Longmire on Netflix. This has been such a great show I hate to see it end and it had my full attention. I did get my 15 mins in but it was all on getting the cut scraps organized. It looks like a tornado hit. I had started before this saving the cut pieces in plastic bags marked so I knew which size it was.  These were all stored in one of those plastic erect drawer units.  I do not want those in the sewing room now. Going to use the storage unit / ironing station. So far I have 3 different sizes that will fit in the unit and not sure until it finished what it end up looking like. I would like to think it will be perfect but I know better. Imagine that it will need a little fine tuning as I start using it.  For the past year all of this has been out in the garage not being used. Was hoping to get it all done yesterday but unfortunately my Mom was a

Stash, 15 mins and more

Here it is Sunday already and tomorrow the grandsons fly back home, their visit was way too short. But I have to say it wasn't one of our best thou. Ben was sick the whole time. He was congested like my daughter and then for the next 3 days he had a temp, stuffed up and a daily bout of throwing up. In fact on the way to the airport to pick up their mom he threw up in the car. Oh my what a mess and stunk, phew wee. Just hope he does okay on the plane ride home. Now on to more pleasant stuff. Last year I started keeping track of stash usage. I did really well until about October and then I really didn't do much to add to the total.  So my ending total usage 55 3/4 yards. I was hoping for more but at least it was to the good. Now for the start of 2018 It's easy one, this week I used a yard and half from my stash. Brought nothing in This also means I need to redo the stash report on the side here. I also going to add something else new Kate at Life in Piec

2017 Goals

I can't help myself, if I read or hear about what is your goals, and my thoughts start racing with this and that. Plus it just lends itself to being a list, I love lists. So when I came across  Quilting Jet  Girls 2017 Planning Party , it made me to start thinking about what it is I want to see happen in 2017. I have a long list of quilts/projects and one of my goals is to go through that list and really think about whether I want to put the time and effort into that project still. If not I'll put the fabric back into the stash. You see most of the projects on the list are all ready to make, the fabric and pattern are together, set aside. So I'm not going to make a list of quilts this year. Instead I think I'll commit to what I have been somewhat doing and that is to use only what's in my stash and the decided projects that's collected After moving everything for the carpet most of my stash and stuff is in the garage and needs to be used, m

Slow Stitch Sunday plus some

I thought I would make this post one of a little of this and a little of that. Well what should be first, I think I'll start with the stash report. Added 6 yards to go with the quilt I'm making for my daughter. I did get a quilt bound this afternoon but I had  counted it  already  I believe so all I can show is a picture. My total numbers are located on the side. Besides doing the binding on this, for my slow stitching Sunday I am doing a little embroidery on the 30's row quilt. Just a simple stem stitch will do the trick. I have 4 blocks to do. Then there is March's NewFO. I am starting a quilt for my daughter. She had emailed me a picture of a crib quilt but wanted it done as a queen size. The pattern was minimal and simplistic. So on EQ I drafted it to be her size The blocks will be rather large and the quilting will be done by hand in a big stitch quilting. Here is the fabric she had picked out a few years back and the

Slow Sunday Stitching

This is going to be my first time linking up to Slow Sunday Stitching  at Kathy's Quilts. I think this is a neat idea  for others to share what they are working on by hand, it can be any kind of needlework. For me this is a very easy post to write because I love to do piecework.  My problem is I like to do too many types. It can be quilting, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, sewing or appliqueing. I end up having many "irons in the fire".  I am normally working on something while watching TV. Tonight I'm working on one of the Git-R-Done's, embroidering on blocks for Some Kind of Wonderful. And if I get those done I'll do some appliqueing on the Pea Ridge Lily blocks The pattern is from one of Barbara Brackman's books. Now for an update on my stash report seeing how I didn't get around to updating last week, I'll be combining week 8 & 9. I used up mainly scraps from years of saving. After I took this picture I di

Sunday Stash Update

I have been busy getting a couple of my UFO's done so I haven't had time to start anything new except yesterday I did start on a Furoshiki bag. That took a yard.  F uroshiki is a traditional japanese wrapping cloth, use it to wrap everything. Furoshiki can be used for gift wrapping, grocey shopping or even as clothing.  I have been hemming the edges so tomorrow I will show how I made mine. Right now it's almost 11:00 and I need to get to bed so this is going to be short and sweet.  I used only 1 yard and did not purchased any fabric. my total is on the left side. So till tomorrow Kat  =^..^=

Using up Stash

I have been so not sewing much  these  past few months but I think I have my mo-jo back. I have been able to spend hours in my "happy room" these past couple of days. I was very close to finishing 2 on my challenges off my list. I hope in a day or two  to be able to post them  and then I also was cutting up some of my stash for my New FO for August but I'll get to that later. I will give you a peek thou  A fellow blogger and friend gave me her copy of a pattern she is doing, thank you Barbara. So this week I used more than I had bought.   Yeah!

Stash Report

This week was a good one for me, seeing how I did not update my totals in a couple of weeks. I had nothing to put in other than change the dates....which I did not. The Hunter Star took 10.5 yards...since I started it last year and was not adding up my stash then,  I figure the UFO's I am working on I'll just wait until I have them done to add up the yards used. Now these are my new numbers, Used this Week:  10.5 yards Used year to Date: 37.25 yards Added this Week: 0 yards Added Year to Date: 36 yards Net Used for 2012: 1.25 yard WOO...WHOO...     I'm in the good again, up 1.25    :) Check out  Patchwork Times  to see how others are doing.

Oh my, stash report

I was doing so good until this week.  I couldn't help it, I was at a shop that had Blueberry Crumb Cake by Moda  and I have this thing for blue so I just could resist. Have no quilt planned, just goes in the stash for when I do find that right project. I had not bought any fabric in a couple of months and then it's like I went off to the deep end. I have bought 35.5 yards.    Woo - wee I now have a minus usage. Used this Week: .5 yards Used year to Date: 4.5 yards Added this Week: 35.5 yards Added Year to Date: 36 yards Net Used for 2012: -31.5 yards Not good, I need to get really busy and start using it up.  Check out  Patchwork Times  to see how others are doing. Till next time Kat =^..^=
