It's Easy Street

YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's Done Well I did it, and I was worried that I wouldn't be able to get it done today like I wanted. You see I spent the day with my sister and parents and wasn't able to start putting the blocks together until  5:00 pm. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to put a border on it or not. Have thought about blue ( it's my favorite color ) but I will dwell on that for a while. I like the way it looks now. My cat Pete likes it too. I bet it wasn't more than a minute or two and he was on it. Lets put it this way, I was able to get a few pi ctures of the quilt without him. Like I've said before, there is something about quilts and cats. Now I can cross another one off the list.

What was up today

I had wanted to get my Easy Street finished today but it wasn't to be.  I have 11 blocks to go and then of course there's putting it together. So there is tomorrow, no obligations or appointments. You know what that means. It possibly might get done and I can cross that one off my  Git-R-Done list.  Today when I went out to gather the eggs, this is where I found some. I have some square bales of straw inside the hen house so when I need to clean out their nesting boxes it's handy. The girls decided that they thought it was handy too.

It will work

I wasn't sure if I was going to like my choice of cheddar, so what I've done is put it up on the design wall to see if I could live with it. I believe I like it. I have had it up there for a couple of days now and I think I'll start sewing on it.  But not tonight (Sunday), Downton Abby is on and I have been waiting for season 3 to start. And nothing can interfere with watching. UPDATE 1-23-13 IT'S Done I have started keeping better tally of my stash so now that it is a new year, I think I have a grasp on how to do it now. I wasn't very good at it the last year. I've used 3 3/4 yards. and did buy 2 yards. So that makes me 1 3/4 yards to the good. I think I'm off to a good start Thanks Bonnie

Easy Peasy

Bonnie was right about this step would be easy. In less than 2 hours I was able to have what I needed cut and 1/4 of them completed. I would of tried to finish but I didn't start working on them until 6 pm. My brother and his family came for a few days from California and we had dinner at our parents. A couple o f hours is good enough for now, I'll work on them tomorrow. You see my Christmas is over for now. My daughter and the grand boys will not be here this Christmas or any of my other daughters. I didn't realize this is how it would be, when my kids were little we always had Christmas with the family and grand parents and you think that is how things will always be. That's not always true, is it.    Usually when I make a unit like this I will sew another stitch line at least a quarter inch from the first, so that way when I cut off the tip, I end up with a set of half square triangles   They are 1 1/2 unfinished. I should get 128 of these.

On Easy Street

I had been working on getting caught up since I started late, but I did made a dent in it. So far I'm liking my color choices. One thing about a mystery is that your not sure if what you pick out will work but seeing how I'm going scraping I have a better chance Last weeks clue was to make 192 - 4 patches (I have a 1/3 done) This weeks clue is to make 128  flying geese ( again about 1/3 done) And if you had time or just wanted to like me, you could get a head start on next week by cutting 64 rectangles from the background fabric - done (that was a no brainier for me) So what I did for what Bonnie had chosen as the colors I changed. For lime green I changed out to Cheddar. Now out of all the changes this is the one I am curious about. You can have too much of a bright/contrasting color that your eye could focus only on those colors, so will see. Then for the Turquoise I just went with another shade of blue, mainly Cadet blue. Then for the purple I went with a M
