On a Roll

Have you heard the one about your on the way to the garden and you get distracted by a messy garage.  Well that is what happen to me.  Since I'm trying to get stuff taken care of before I leave, I realized that it's not just the garden I need to attend to but the potted plants I have around the porches. Which means I need a place to put them in to protect from the cold.  The dream of a greenhouse is still a dream so until then it's the garage....hence the cleaning. Enough of the depressing stuff lets see what did get completed Put the border on the big orphan block. Done...ready to quilt...another one to practice on.. Did another Farmer's Wife. A paper piece one. Getting better at it, and by the time we're finished with the book I might be able to say I think I know a little about how to.  And you never know I might even like it. Maybe

My UFO & NewFO

I am still catching up so here is the current UFO Challenge for March. As I said earlier that it is # 8 and that is my Birdie Stitches that  Little Miss Shabby  did last year and as far as I can tell the link to her site looks like you can still download the pattern if you want. Here is mine so far.  I used a charm pack by Moda of Mary Engelbreit "Recipe for Friendship" Then I copied the pattern on to a sheet of Sulky 's Sticky Fabri-Solvy. Love that stuff, use it most of the time when I need to transfer pattern on to the fabric. Now to the NewFO's that I started this past month, Feb. I have not one but two.  What I have so far  It is from this book and this is the pattern I copying. All the fabric I'm using is from my stash. The second one is this Lemoyne Star.  I wrote about it last month  here My goal is this, to do a reproduction of this antique quilt Till next time Kat =^..^=

Playing Catch-up

I am now having to catch up on posting my UFO Challenge, OPAM and just sharing. First I want to say I had a wonderful birthday with friends and family and wanted to thank everyone who sent their birthday greetings to me, thank you. That is what made the day special, and to think I am now 54 years young, it's just mind boggling. I guess I enjoy it so much my body decided I needed to get grounded and so now I have a head cold. Felt like poop yesterday. Better today, so now I have a list of things to do, so let's get started. 1.  I finished sewing my Hunter Star top, now done.  This is #1 on my list.  I used Deb Tucker's ruler Petite Rapid Fire Hunter Star. I made the 6" blocks (circled in green) and when you put 4 of those blocks together you get a 12" block (circled in red). This is what I had originally planned but once I did get it sewn together I going to think about maybe adding another row. I just don't know, I'll sleep on it.   This

So slow

I meant to write Monday about our first snow view from my sewing table  My stash report, what is up on my wall and the new pincushion I made. So time to waste and I'll just right to it. What's up still on my design wall is  my Hunter Star, half way done with it.  Color is hard to tell because it's a dark  indigo A pile to trim and sew together. Then I made a pincushion I had found on  Riley Blake's blog . Every Friday there will be a new pincushion pattern and so far she has had some cute one and if you are like me you'll have to try one or two. I'm hoping she'll have a turtle pincushion. The example they show is using a sundae dish and looks better using that dish, I used a parfait cup. I did not have enough fabric to do the sundae dish but I was thinking about making this again but in wool using my sundae dish. My stash report is that I used 5.75yds, 5 of it is for the Christmas Quilt along and then some for SKoW project. Di

It's Monday, What's Up

I have been busy this past week around the house and was able to get a top finished and start on another new project plus work on a couple of my UFO's on my list. This is the Hunter Star that I making using Deb Tucker's ruler. It is a piece of cake, no Y-seams. If you are  interested in knowing more go to  Sager Creek  Pam has links and tutorials. better than I could show.  Buddy is helping as you can tell. What is up with cats and quilts or paper. Seems like when I work with one there they are. I need to finish this today for this evenings Bible study, This is Esther's block  I have been invited to join in, a little over a week ago by Cookyblue at  stitch-a-long  in making this quilt. I had bought this book last October on the bus trip. When I found out this was the quilt they were doing this year I asked to be put on the waiting list. I got the news  a week and half ago and  I started right away to get caught up.  By the end of this month I n

Finished and Unfinished UFO's

Over at Patchwork times I joined the 2012 UFO Challenge   that Judy has going on. Now I am new to this and did not get the jiffs of it till just recently. You make a  list 12 UFO's you plan to finish this year, (I'll put my list up here soon). I learned that a number is picked and you work on that one for the month. # 5 was picked for January and this is my #5    This is Vintage Memories (Garden) by Blackbird Designs and I failed to finish it in time. I'm one block short and the sashing/border. I plan on working on it along with this months choice (#1). Try my best to get it done.   This is February's  #1 my Hunter Star Will be 80" x 90" Now I need to also talk about what I did get finished and that is the Purple Sugar Twist It is twice the size that the pattern was, I wanted it fit on my daughter's bed. Now I need to take it to the quilter cause I want it done soon so when I go to California I will have to give to her. Then

I finished take 2 #2

I was able to work on something of my own today and that was the second set of it takes two. Now I don't know about anyone else but I had some issues with a couple of blocks. I thought I had read somewhere else about the same thing but when I went looking for it I could not find it.  It took me all day because I had to deal with trying to find someone who would come out here to work on our hot water heater. It went out Friday and "the man of the place" could not get it working. I was told by a couple of places that they didn't come this far out here. Finally found someone who would but not until tomorrow. I am really needed a shower in a bad way. A sponge bath only go so far if you ask me. "The man of the place " actually takes a cold shower. I'm a sissy and just can't do it. I finish one of the grandson's hats. I have this preemie hat pattern and it will be perfect. Chances they will be early and little so they will need ones of
