TGIF

Boy does it seem like it's been a long week. My sister is still here and will be until the 9th of September... besides my sister, my youngest daughter has been here this week also. You can guess that I haven't done too much but was able to complete the Christmas Trip Around the World. My first TATW and found it easier than I thought it would be, so much so that I can see myself making another. Used fabric from my stash... honestly I did not realize I had as much Christmas fabric as I do. Going to have to come up with another pattern to use more of it up.   Also was able to finish weaving up some wash cloths. Had enough warp to do 3 cloths. Wasn't really sure on how to finish the and wanted to just get them done without taking time to find out how. So I did a small, tight zigzag stitch along the edge before cutting it apart. The next thing I did remember reading was to sew a hem on the edges.

Bits and Pieces

Today was a very busy and active day for me. I started out by doing the usual, which was to go out and let the chickens out of the hen house. Well there was the buzzard sitting on top of the hen house. Had my camera with me so I was able to snap a shot of him up there. It stretched its wings out but did not take off and fly. Never did see it leave.   Then had to go to the quilt shop to pick up the next two sets of blocks for the Farmer's wife Sampler.  Went by the store get a couple things. Then I went by the church and help decorate the Christmas tree which I have to say look very stunning this year. Sometimes one color can look really pretty. We did the tree only in red ornament, bows  and  Poinsettias  this year. Came home, fed the cows and straightened up a little bit because  didn't have a chance to get to that this morning before I left. I was able to get a couple hours of sewing in which I proceeded to work

Christmas QAL

Today, the 2nd Saturday of the month is  Quilt Times  QAL I wasn't able to start this morning with everyone else. First I had to go pick green beans that are out in the garden, doing very nicely this year. Nothing like what I had to go through last year. I posted about the groundhog that was eating my garden last year  here this years green beans Then I worked the Quilt Show in Tulsa. So here are a few pictures I want to share So when I finally was able to sit down and sew, I just did one block. I wanted to see what it would look like. After seeing what the others had accomplished I had to get at least one done. This is it.  But After I made it I thought what would it look like if I turned the four patch. So here is the same block but with the four patch laying on top of it but turned. Which way do you like? I need input!  I can not decide which direction I like the best. Thank you Kat Don't pass up the chance to win the

After a Hiccup

I had started out yesterday afternoon working on the Christmas Quilt A-Long and with full intentions of just finishing part 3 in  a couple of hours of sewing. Things were going along just smoothly until I started to feel a little odd. Now if any of you have food allergies or have had an allergic reactions to something, you know what I was feeling. It was the onset of a food reaction and mine starts with tingling/itchy feeling. Needless to say that just blew the rest of my evening. Hives and a couple of Benadryl pills later it was " good night " for me. Plus I not much good for a while the next day either but I did get them done today, all 20 sets.  I have a few of Deb Tucker's trimmers and the one I use the most is the "Trucker Trimmer"  I love the simplicity of it and it works so well for trimming up these hour glass blocks. You get the center perfectly in the center and the sides lined upped just right  After that they go together so

New Christmas Quilt-a-long

Today is the start of Hazel's Quilts  so you are just in on the beginning.  Right now it is the deciding stage of which fabrics to use. So that is what I am up to now and like Sharon at Vrooman Quilts  I will take time today to give updates on my progress. Like you I am just starting. So now I off to go find fabric.  Good way to use some of my stash. UPDATE; OK it took me a few before I could start. We have had our coldest temp so far this winter (16) and I had to take care of "the girls" and the wild birds and such. So I started looking.  Now I have a sewing room which is small and also full and knew my container of Christmas fabric was not in there so I went to the spare room where I have put a few things (just a few). Nope wasn't there so I went to the garage where I have a few tubs stacked. Again just a few.  Of course it is at the bottom of the stack in the middle behind the box of bottles  OK I finally get it out and thank goodness
